Russia and the US to hold talks on Ukraine crisis
FXStreet (Łódź) - US secretary of state John Kerry and Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov are due to meet in Paris at 12 GMT today, after attending an emergency UN Security Council on the situation in Ukraine. Talks on the Russian intervention in Crimea will also be conducted in Brussels between NATO and Russian officials.
Furthermore, a special meeting of EU leaders has been called for Thursday to discuss the possibility of imposing sanctions on Russia, which had already begun preparing a bill allowing it to confiscate assets of US and European companies if such a decision was made.
Meanwhile, the Interfax news agency reported on Wednesday that Ukrainian missile defense units were captured in Crimea by the Russian military, but the Ukrainian Defense Ministry could not confirm the news.
