US: Existing Home Sales increase by 2% in August

  • Existing Home Sales in US continued to rise in August.
  • US Dollar Index posts modest daily losses, holds above 93.00.

Following an increase of 2.2% in July, Existing Home Sales in the US rose by 2%, or 5.88 million, in August, the data published by the National Association of Realtors showed on Wednesday. This reading came in slightly weaker than the market expectation for an increase of 5.89 million.

Further details of the publication revealed that the median sales price was $356,700, up 14.9% when compared to August 2020.

Market reaction

This report doesn't seem to be having a noticeable impact on the greenback's performance against its rivals. As of writing, the US Dollar Index was down 0.05% on the day at 93.15.
